Many modern ‘automatic’ vehicles are now equipped with a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). Unlike traditional torque-converter automatics, a DCT operates using two separate clutches – one for odd gears and one for even gears – allowing for faster, smoother gear changes and improved fuel efficiency.
In essence, a DCT combines the efficiency and control of a manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic. Depending on the design, these systems use advanced clutch and gear actuators or an integrated mechatronic control unit to manage gear selection seamlessly.

DSG & Dual Clutch Replacements
Looking for fast clutch repair? We cover a wide variety of DSG and dual clutch replacements. These systems are commonly used in all VAG vehicles (VW, Audi, SEAT, Škoda) with other manufacturers using similar systems such as Ford, Renault, Kia, Mercedes, BMW and Mini.
Common symptoms include jerky gear changes, clutch slipping, clutch judder, banging into drive, delayed engagement, loss of drive and transmission warning lights. Typical fault codes related to clutch issues include P177C (clutch tolerance limit reached) and P177D (clutch torque too high).
Our team at Suffolk Clutch Centre has completed LUK’s training programme for six- and seven-speed clutch transmissions. Please note that LUK will not honour a warranty on a DSG clutch unless it is installed by a trained technician. We have invested several thousand pounds in the latest specialist tools to ensure your DSG clutch is fitted correctly. Due to the tolerances involved, the installation process is critical.
Manual Clutch Replacements
We provide expert clutch replacements for all manual vehicles, resolving common issues such as slipping, difficulty changing gears and loss of drive. Our skilled technicians replace the clutch plate, pressure plate and release bearing/concentric slave cylinder using only genuine or LUK parts.

Same Day Clutch Fitting
We provide same-day fitting for most manual and dual clutch replacements, along with a fast turnaround on mechatronics repairs and general servicing.
Our experienced technicians work efficiently using quality parts, ensuring you’re back on the road as quickly as possible. Same-day completion is available in most cases, except where specialist components are needed, an ECU requires testing, or parts must be specially ordered.
Mechatronic Repairs
We specialise in diagnosing and rebuilding DSG and dual clutch mechatronics units using high-quality replacement components.
Common faults include harsh shifting, loss of drive, flashing gear indicator, limp mode, gearbox malfunction lights, and loss of odd or even gears, often linked to fault codes such as P173500, P173600, P189C00, P17BF00 and P084100. Our technicians fully strip, refurbish and recalibrate the mechatronics unit to restore optimum gearbox performance.
Automatic Transmission Servicing
We offer professional automatic transmission servicing for all major gearbox types. Each service typically includes a full fluid drain and refill using the correct manufacturer-approved oil, filter replacement (where applicable), a comprehensive gearbox health check, and resetting of service indicators.
